Sloping Garden Gallery

This long garden sloped away from the house and was just laid to lawn with prominent fences and no planting. Our approach was to create two separate lawned areas. The lawn nearest the house was shaped into an ellipse running diagonally across the slope. This has given the effect of broadening the width of the garden and drawing the eye away from the end of the plot. Masses of planting, including a number of semi-mature trees have provided immediate feeling of maturity.

The other area of lawn was also elliptical and enclosed at each end by hornbeam hedging. Within this area more formal planting was used and seating was introduced for the enjoyment of sun and shade. A selection of Fruit trees were trained onto a south facing fence and planted within the borders.
